Kavis Yip on TV: Unlocking Opportunities in Hong Kong’s Student Housing Market

Kavis Yip, CEO of Centaline Investment, recently spoke in a televised interview about the growing opportunities and challenges in Hong Kong’s student housing market. As the number of mainland and international students studying in Hong Kong continues to rise, demand for quality student accommodation has increased significantly. In response, Centaline Investment has launched a new brand, Campus One Community (COC), introducing proven student housing management models from the UK and US to create safe, comfortable, and community-oriented living environments.
Yip noted that student housing offers greater stability than traditional investment properties and is less susceptible to economic cycles. She also highlighted that government talent admission schemes have further fueled housing demand among young professionals and students.
To address the persistent shortage of student accommodation, Yip called on the government to relax policies and expedite approval processes, allowing the private sector to convert underutilized hotels or office buildings into student residences. She emphasized that professional student housing requires a different operational approach than traditional rentals or hotel management, and COC is committed to meeting student needs through tailored services and facilities that foster a vibrant residential community.
